#NBW2024 is an opportunity to advocate for improved breastfeeding support for families in Canada. There are inequalities affecting breastfeeding in our society every day. Canadian Breastfeeding Week is observed during the 40th week of the year, typically in October. This timing reflects the first week of a baby’s life when breastfeeding often starts. The 10th month of the year, October, symbolically marks the beginning of this important journey for many families.

PROBUS Clubs Month is an opportunity to celebrate the existence of 255 PROBUS Clubs across Canada, and the participation of more than 38,000 members in these volunteer-based, non-profit groups. The goal of PROBUS Clubs is to provide Fellowship, Friendship and Fun for men and women in their retirement and semi-retirement years, to encourage healthy minds and bodies through socialization with other retirees in the community.

Fire Prevention Week, Ocotber 6 - 12, 2024.
Fire Prevention Week is observed each year during the week of October 9th in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire, which began on October 8, 1871, and caused devastating damage, killing more than 250 people, leaving 100,000 homeless, and burning more than 2,000 acres of land.
This year’s campaign theme is “Smoke alarms: Make them work for you! ™” serves to educate everyone about the importance of having working smoke alarms in the home.
