The main floor and basement of the new Youth Recreation Centre will include a games area, a lounge and hangout area with plenty of seating, an entertainment area outfitted with a TV and computer lab, as well as a resource area, kitchen, quiet space, and admin area.

Reading Buddies is a literacy program for children in grades 1-5 who are having trouble with or not enjoying reading. The children are paired with trained teen volunteers from the community. Focusing on the enjoyment of reading and friendship, the Reading Buddies program works to improve the literacy of reluctant or struggling readers.
Students in Grades 1-5 are invited to apply for their own, personal reading buddy. Applications are available for pickup at the Library and downloadable on our website, and are due by Wednesday, March 27.
Please Note: Submitting an application does not guarantee a space in the program.
Registration is open from Wednesday, March 6 - Wednesday, March 27
Program runs Wednesdays, April 10 - May 15 from 4:30 - 5:15 p.m.

The Youth Empowerment Collective, a group of dedicated volunteers, has chosen Bradford West Gwillimbury as the host for their inaugural Youth Empowerment Day, celebrated annually on May 4th. The Youth Empowerment Collective is committed to uplifting young people, envisioning a Canada where every youth feels a sense of belonging and thrives through opportunities to develop essential skills and emerge as leaders within their communities.

Youth Empowerment Collective
May 4 to 18
Join the Youth Empowerment Collective as they celebrate and unveil the artwork of dozens of local youth in the community. Empowered Expressions Art Exhibit organized by the Youth Empowerment Collective. This art exhibit will feature over fifty pieces of artwork from local children and youth in the Zima Room and aligns with the first Youth Empowerment Day on May 4th, 2024.
The exhibit opens to the public at 2:00 p.m. on May 4th and will be on display in the Zima Room until May 18th, 2024.

In the Netherlands, Liberation Day - Bevrijdingsdag - is celebrated each year on May 5th to mark the end of the occupation by Nazi Germany during World War II. This commemoration celebrates the significant contributions that Dutch-Canadians have made to the growth and prosperity of our Province and our Community giving us all a chance to pause and reflect on our values and ideals of freedom, democracy, and human rights.
