Join us on Sunday June 9, 23 & 30 for beginner and advanced try it waterpolo!
Water polo is a team sport that combines elements of swimming, soccer, and basketball. It is played by having teams aiming to score goals by throwing a ball into the opponent's net or knock down a set of boards. For our beginner level, participants will be in the SHALLOW end of the pool, where ideally the participant is able to touch the bottom and walk, however some swimming may be required. **Swimming Skills: Since water polo is played in a pool, swimming is a core skill. Beginners should be proficient swimmers as the game requires moving quickly through the water, sometimes using a technique known as the 'eggbeater kick', which provides stability and support to free the arms for ball handling.**Basic Strategies: Water polo is a game that requires both individual skills and team tactics. Beginners will focus on learning to handle the ball with one hand and develop a keen sense of awareness for both their teammates' positions and the opponents' strategies.
For our advanced level, participants will be in the DEEP end of the pool, and requires participants to be comfortable and able to swim in deep water and tread for longer periods of time.**Swimming Skills: Since water polo is played in a pool, swimming is a core skill. Advanced Players should be proficient swimmers as the game requires moving quickly through the water, sometimes using a technique known as the 'eggbeater kick', which provides stability and support to free the arms for ball handling. Players will learn about strategies, enhanced techniques and communication skills needed to play the game.
